This is a note on where to have lunch in Atsuma, Hokkaido, before you reach the house. It is about the open hours in the middle of your arrival day, and how to use them.
Mori no Auberge Mitsu is a small house in Atsuma, taking three groups a night in three rooms. Check-in is from 15:00, so on the day you arrive, the midday is still yours.
We do not name restaurants here, only the town's facilities and the nearby town. For each, we add the drive time by car from Auberge Mitsu.
Check-in at Mori no Auberge Mitsu is from 15:00 to 19:00, and check-out is at 10:00.
The house is about 30 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport, and about 15 minutes from the Atsuma interchange on the Hidaka Expressway. There is no need to rush, so you can eat somewhere first and arrive at your ease.
Below are places for lunch in and around the town, each with the drive time from Auberge Mitsu.
At Kobushi-no-yu Atsuma you can have pale purple haskap soft-serve ice cream, made with Atsuma berries. It is about 15 minutes by car from Mitsu.

If you go a little further, there is Tomakomai. It lands more hokki clams than any other municipality in Japan, and its local dish, hokki curry, is much loved.
Autumn into winter is said to be the season for it. Tomakomai is about 40 minutes by car from Mitsu.

Until lunch begins, Kobushi-no-yu Atsuma and Tomakomai are the places to fill your midday.
