A 120-year-old farmhouse, built by a traditional method often used for farmhouses in Toyama Prefecture. The thick central pillar and the beams were joined without metal fittings, a rare piece of construction that would be difficult to reproduce today with the same materials, and it gives the lounge a warmth and a presence you can feel as soon as you sit down.

A goemon-style soaking tub in Shigaraki ceramic ware
Every room has its own goemon-style soaking tub in Shigaraki ceramic ware. You blend the seasonal herbs yourself — kumazasa, chamomile, mint — and soak surrounded by the scent of the forest. The amenities are SHOLAYERED's Fresh Pear fragrance, made with the environment in mind, so the bath becomes something you take in with all five senses. The water is heated; it is not a natural hot spring. There is no shared large bath.

There is no television in the rooms. A Bluetooth speaker lets you mix the sound of the forest with music of your own, so the noise of ordinary days falls away for a while. Sleeping with the forest breathing around you — that is the night this house is designed for.
