Search for an auberge in Hokkaido and you meet two words at once, 'luxury' and 'cheap', which makes the budget hard to picture. This article is not about whether a rate is high or low, but about how to read what that rate actually includes.
Mori no Auberge Mitsu is a small house in Atsuma, Hokkaido, taking three groups a night in three rooms. Its rate includes dinner and breakfast, and the guide price is from about 28,000 yen per person when two people share a room.
Below we go in order: what the rate covers, the lodging tax and cancellation that sit outside it, and the ways to enjoy the food without staying the night. We do not line up other inns' prices; we work only from Auberge Mitsu's own guide figures and published facts.
Dinner, breakfast and the room: three things in the rate
An auberge rate is one figure that brings the cost of the room and the cost of the food together. At Mori no Auberge Mitsu, that rate covers three things: dinner, breakfast and the room itself.
Dinner is an omakase kaiseki course that follows the Hokkaido season, and breakfast is served too, except on room-only plans. You can see the food on the Dining page.
There are three rooms, and each has its own indoor goemon-style soaking tub in Shigaraki ceramic ware. It is not a natural hot spring but heated water, and there is no shared bathhouse.
The guide price is from about 28,000 yen, and it moves
At Mori no Auberge Mitsu the guide price is from about 28,000 yen per person, with dinner and breakfast. That figure is based on two people sharing a room, and it changes with the room and the season.
Two houses can both say 'two meals included' and still differ in the number of dishes and the make of the rooms, so the headline number alone does not tell you high from low. The lodging tax that sits outside the headline price
Besides the headline price, there is something you settle on the spot. From 1 April 2026, Mori no Auberge Mitsu collects a lodging tax at the property.
The tax depends on the room rate, and it is 100 to 500 yen per person. It is separate from the price shown on the booking site, and you pay it on site.

Cancellation charges begin three days before
At a house that prepares your food and takes only three groups a night, cancellation has a deadline. The earlier you tell us, the lighter the charge.
At Mori no Auberge Mitsu there is no charge from four days before. It is 50% three days before, 80% the day before, and 100% on the day.

Coming only for dinner, without staying
If your budget or your dates do not allow a night, you can come only for the food. Mori no Auberge Mitsu offers a dinner-only day plan for one group, from 12,000 yen.
The plan can be booked through CHILLNN, the booking site. Lunch service is also due to begin in September 2026, from a planned 3,000 yen per person.
Payment and parking on the day
Payment on the day is cashless only. Credit cards, electronic money and QR code payments are accepted, and cash is not.
There is parking for 10 cars, free for guests and with no reservation needed. There is no valet service, though.
